How to De-authorize a Computer

Before you can play music you’ve purchased and downloaded from the iTunes Store and before you can start using an iTunes duplicate remover, you must first authorize the computer where you want to play the content on. And it must be authorized through your iTunes account. Unfortunately, you can only authorize up to 5 computers. For most users, the number isn’t an issue because only a few of us can manage to use more than 5 computers.

But the problem comes in when one of the computers is dead before you can deauthorize it. Thankfully, your account on iTunes has a way to do it.

  1. Open iTunes program
  2. Sign in to your iTunes account by clicking the iTunes Store button.
  3. Enter your username and password, i.e. if you’re not signed in yet.
  4. Find a section within your iTunes account that says Computer authorizations. It’s found at the bottom of the window.
  5. Click the Deauthorize All button when you see it. It’s next to the Computer Authorizations
  6. Confirm that you wish to do it.
  7. Click the Continue button. This action will deauthorize all 5 computers within that account.
  8. Re-authorize the computers that you’re still using by clicking the Computer authorization button.

Even though it’s easy to de-authorize and re-authorize computers, it’s still recommended that you de-authorize the computer that you’re no longer using. You must also remember that the Deauthorize All option can only be used once every year. Thus, you must be careful in using it.
